Pineview Elementary School is now gone.

The demolition of 3035 Leaphart Road in West Columbia, started in late August. The 52,300-squarefoot school was built in 1968 on 9 acres.

Pineview closed in spring of 2018, after hosting Lexington 2 students for 50 years. Would-be Pineview students now go to Riverbank Elementary.

“I am grateful that I got to spend the bulk of my career there and be a part of the Pineview community,” said Amy Brant. She taught kindergarten there for 23 years. Her 2 children Christopher and Emma also went to school there.

Brant said she is grateful for Riverbank Elementary, where she now teaches. But she has a lot of Pineview memories.

“Every day was special at Pineview,” Brant said.

“It was the community, the family and home for me,” she said of Pineview. “It was a great opportunity to work there.”

The property will be left as a green space, according to District 2.
