Yes, you’ve noticed.

The cost of living is up.

You can expect to pay more for soup, soda, TVs, cars, clothing, coffee and other household items.

8 consumer items will be more expensive this year.

Another 8 will be cheaper.

More expensive will be:

• Canned Goods. The US clamped a 10% tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods. Soup, soda and beer could cost more due to steel and aluminum tariffs affecting their cans.

• Cars and TVs. Metal tariffs will hit them hard. Vehicle prices could rise by almost $7,000. New flat-screen TVs and LED lights, copper wire, and other machinery used to build the latest innovations have been affected by new tariffs.

• Household appliances.

A 20% tariff on washing machines followed by tariffs on imported steel drive up prices 13.4%. Laundry-equipment prices jumped an estimated 17%. Other goods affected by tariffs: mini-fridges and air purifiers.

• Clothing. Tariffs will affect parts for machinery that makes clothing and shoes.

• Diapers and tissues.

Look out for pricier. Kimberly-Clark started raising prices on Huggies and Kleenex last summer due to increased cost of pulp used to make them.

• Coffee. The price of arabica coffee beans went down in 2018 but is expected to rise from $1.09 a pound to $1.41 a pound in 2019.

Weather in Brazil will be bad again this year plus low interest rates will lead to a shortage in the market.

• Travel. Like last year, the cost of traveling is up.

Airfare is expected to increase 2.6% this year, with hotel prices up 3.7%.

Expect to see airfare rise to India, New Zealand, Norway, Germany and Chile.

Disney and Universal have raised prices again.

Disney introduced a new ticketing system and Universal is steadily increasing their ticket prices.
