Get your party clothes ready! Your friends of the Lexington County Museum are planning next year’s gala. Missing this year because of covid, the group will hold ITS next fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 26, 2022.

Their theme is Remembering the Liverman Hospital and Medical History of Lexington County. Included is the Lexington Medical Center’s milestone 50th anniversary. More information on this coming,

Our Lexington folks remember Dr. James Stanley Liverman, who operated the local hospital for a number of years, and his faithful wife Kathryn. Dr. Liverman willingly made house calls at any hour and accepted minimal payment for his service.

Officers installed at the Museum meeting outside on an ideal evening were Constance Flemming, President; John Derrick, President Elect; Tim Hill, Vice President; Carol Metts, Secretary; Connie McFarland, Recording Secretary; Bobbi Sox, Treasurer and Dan Koon, outgoing president. JR Fennel is Director. Dan is from a family with much Lexington heritage and served the museum for 2 years with outstanding leadership.

HOW MANY of us have visited a fortune teller who reads your palm? Your palm might have a whole different reading now.

Amazon is bringing its palm-scanning payment system to a Whole Foods store in Seattle, the company announced Wednesday, with other locations planned.

Amazon said it has signed up thousands of users. Palm-scanning will be one of many payment options at Whole Foods stores. Amazon said it won’t affect store employees’ jobs but it hopes to sell the technology to retailers, stadiums and office buildings.

Maybe no more card carrying.

SAPORI’S OF Lexington held a successful Tuscan Primavera Wine Festival Saturday, with a 5-course meal and paired wines. Due to favorable response they plan another.

THE LEXINGTON Wine Walk will be 6-10 pm, May 8, at the Icehouse Amphitheater.

The free concert at the amphitheater this Thursday is Whiskey Run.

SPECIAL TO our family was the presentation of the Harry O. Harman Award for self less public service given to Lexington County Treasurer, Jim Eckstrom. Harman was the long time county coroner until his death in 2014. Eckstrom has served as Treasurer since 2008.

The Lexington County Republican Party held its annual meeting to elect officers and delegates. Awards for service to the community were also given. Congratulations to the following award winners: Marcus Steele – the Bill Jackson Award; Jim Eckstrom – the Harry Harman Award; Jean Threatt – the Jarvis Klapman Award and Chip Huggins – the Floyd Spence Award. Congratulations, too, for Craig Caldwell who was reelected County Chairman.

CONGRATULATIONS to Lexington gymnast Maggie O’Hara who finished 4th at the NCAA National Championships in Ft. Worth, TX with a 9.925 on bars and 1st Team All American Honors. She is the daughter of Michele and Matt O’Hara of Lexington, a River Bluff High graduate and an inspiration to all young gymnasts.

All reports say she was truly shining with her veteran calmness as she executed her routine and established a program best on bars at the NCAA Championships.

ANNE BULL reports that Lexington Kids Day was a hit despite Saturday’s rain.

Kids Day is sponsored by Palmetto Chiropractic and the Town of Lexington.

IF YOU HEAR barking outside, don’t dismiss it as the neighbor’s dog.

Last week Ronnie and Joy Wingard heard barking and looked out to see two foxes on their deck. The foxes were upset about not being able to get into the Wingard’s hen house. Ronnie said his hen house is as secure as Fort Knox and the chickens are all safe and sound.
