New Year’s Eve usually means a party. If you’re hosting a party, make sure to plan for some healthy appetizers.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money on these items. They are quick and simple.

Your guests will thank you for your healthy choices to pair with their bubbly.

• Use a healthy bean dip- combine cooked black beans, chili powder, cumin, garlic salt, oregano and a pinch of cayenne pepper in a blender and then add chopped tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes. Serve with baked pita chips or vegetables.

• Grill shrimp, chicken or grass-fed beef.

• Turkey meatballs have 15 grams of

protein. They will keep your crowd’s

hunger satisfied.

• Skewer vegetables with a small piece of mozzarella cheese. You can use a soy dip or something light for dipping.

• Serve pear chunks with feta cheese, olive oil, lemon juice and seasoning for a healthy topping for crusty bread or tortilla chips. Enjoy these additions to your party to keep it festive and healthy.

Next week: New year, new goals
