South Carolina is taking measures to end the opioid epidemic.
Attorney General Alan Wilson lead a bipartisan coalition of 39 states in support of stiffer penalties for irresponsible drug manufacturers.
The coalition is pushing lawmakers to pass the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) 2.0 and the Comprehensive Addiction Reform, Education, and Safety (CARES) Act.
The 2 acts would increase penalties on drug makers that fail to report suspicious transactions and maintain effective controls to prevent their drugs entering the street market.
