School is almost here, which means that high school athletics are also kicking off.

If you’re a White Knoll Timberwolves fan, consider joining the Booster Club this year. Do it before Aug. 22 and you can get a student Cub Pass for only $25, half off the regular price. Membership for students or adults offers admittance to all sporting events at White Knoll High School, White Knoll Middle School, and Carolina Springs Middle School, except playoff games. You’ll also get preferred parking at Timberwolves home football games and preferred seating inside the stadium.

The booster club uses membership fees to purchase uniforms, equipment, state championship rings, scholarships and other awards. Contact the school at 821-5200 or stop by the office to inquire.

Lexington Girls’ Softball is taking registrations for the fall ball programs until August 25. The practices and games are all held at the Nazareth Road fields across from the equestrian arena. Age groups are 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 16U. Meetings and assessments began this week, but there is still time. Visit www.lgssc.comfor info on registration and the programs.

Remember eclipse fever? It was one year ago this week we got to witness a great view of the total eclipse over Red Bank. This past Sunday night was another astronomical event, the Perseid Meteor Shower, which didn’t receive nearly the same attention, but was pretty nifty itself.
