School District 2 back in class Monday

It’s been a fun summer, but the school year in Lexington School District Two is fast approaching. Teachers officially reported last Monday, Aug. 13. And registration drop-ins, class schedule pickups, orientation and open house dates take place this week. The first day of classes for students is Aug. 20.

A local boy is in the news. Rocketman, a Tribute to Sir Elton John, will be performed by Greg Bickley of Cayce, along with the Tokyo Joe Band. The show will be at the S.C. State Fair Oct. 10. Bickley has performed the show annually at the Koger Center as a benefit for children’s charities.

Overturned trucks on interstate ramps came in doubles last week. Emergency personnel were on the scene of a single-vehicle incident Wednesday afternoon, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety.

The incident involved an overturned tractor-trailer at the I-26 Mile Marker 115 West Bound on-ramp from US-321 North. Two hours or so later the road was reopened.
