Scrooge steals Boy Scout trailer

Recently Gilbert Boy Scouts Troop 60 had their camping trailer stolen. The theft was discovered and reported missing October 13 to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The trailer had all of Troop 60’s camping equipment and other items in it.

Scout Master Tom Wirzburger said, the use of the trailer and equipment allows the Scouts to do the good work they do throughout the year. He said their trailer is what lets them go to camp. He said we use the trailer to pick up and put up everything that we stay in on camping weekends.

Wirzburger said this theft really affects our Scouts. He said this hurts them and also our community. This past weekend LCSD Deputies followed up on a call and found Pack 60’s trailer abandoned off of Liberty Hill Road in Gilbert. Many of the items belonging to Pack 60 were found inside the trailer, but some items might have been taken.

The signage on the trailer had been painted over to disguise it. No arrests have been made in the theft. LCSD Deputies ask if anyone knows or has information about the trailer to call 1-888-CRIME-SC or call 888-274-6372.

The trailer needs to be repainted and repaired. A savings account has been set up at First Community Bank for donations. The account is listed as “Gilbert Ruritans for Troop 60 Trailer. Send donations to the Gilbert Ruritans, 713 Juniper Springs Road, Gilbert SC 29054. Please note the donation is for Troop 60 Trailer. We are so happy to hear their trailer has been found.
