The Gilbert-Summit Senior Center was going to reopen in April. Corona-virus has delayed the opening until July. Director Donna Neel said members are called weekly and Meals on Wheels are delivered. For details call 803-892-5745.

FRIDAY, MARCH 26 was Food Friday for the Gilbert Blessing Boxes. Miss Teen South Carolina, Reagan Roper, and Rebekah Knowles helped stock the Restore Hope Ministries boxes. Hope Binkley said the need is great and no donation is too small. The boxes are at Beulah United Methodist Church and the IGA.

CONGRATULATIONS to Gilbert High’s Dani Stroud, a finalist for SC State Teacher of the Year. She was surprised by a visit from Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman. The winner will be announced May 5 at the SC Teacher of the Year Gala.

Congratulations to GHS student Kaileigh Bruner who recently received a Teaching Fellows Scholarship.

Recipients receive $24,000 to help with college. She will attend the USC Honor’s College in the fall.
