My husband, Benny, has been very ill and we have not been able to attend church services for several months. During a recent stay in the hospital, we were surprised when our friend David Golds-berry showed up with his guitar, followed by Kevin Prosser and Josh Quattlebaum, who came to the hospital room and sang for us! These guys are the Soldiers of Faith. What a delight and what great friends these guys are!

Pelion Library will host SC Plants the Seed August 1 from 2 to 6 pm. Building a better world starts with you and your health. This family-centered program teaches children how nutritional foods factor into a healthy lifestyle and adults learn healthy ways to prepare and store fresh fruits and vegetables. Livingston Farms will be at the library selling locally grown produce.

SNAP participants spending at least $5 in benefits will receive $10 worth of tokens; children attending storytime receive a free book. This is resented in partnership with the SC Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC) and the SC Department of Social Services (DSS). The event is for all ages.

Porkchop Productions presents Chicken Little August 2 at 10:30 am. Chicken Little gets hit on the head and is convinced that the sky is falling. Could it be aliens, apples, a paper boy with a bad arm? Join Chicken Little, Henny Penny and the rest of the gang on their quest to tell the king that the sky is falling. Big laughs, unforgettable characters, and a lesson in following the rules highlight this rollicking Porkchop Productions favorite. This event is for grades K-5.

Summer Reading “Mission Accomplished” will be August 2 at 11:30 am. Summer Reading mission has been completed and now it’s time to celebrate. Join the staff for galactic games, activities and more. This event is for all ages.

Technology training is August 1 at 10:30 am and registration is required.

Happy birthday to Mary Catherine Spires.

Don’t forget to congratulate all the PHS scholarship winners who will soon be off to college and starting a new chapter in their young lives!
