Springtime heralds outdoor events

Springtime has arrived in Lexington and so have lots of events.

The largest crowd ever gathered at the Icehouse Amphitheater April 11 for a concert by The Embers. Anne Bull reports she thoroughly enjoyed their beach music. So did Beth and Bob speaks, Nan and Dan Aull, Deb and Don Petty, Karen Smith, Judy and Gene Richmond, Terry Cheatham, Donna Suhrstedt, Otis Rawl, Bob Wall, Dr. Josh Black, Kathy Black, Linda and Gene Smith, Roger Herring, Liz Fogle, and many more. The concert tonight will be by Whisky Run.

Another outdoor event last week was the Ladies of Lexington Tea on Saturday at Private Property. Mothers and daughters brought out their Easter finery and hats or English Fascinators. It was all so colorful.

A silent auction was held prior to seating at tables covered with white cloths and appointed with seasonal flowers.The buffet of hors d’oeurves amd delicate sweets was enjoyed by all.

Sponsored by the Miss Lexington Scholarship Committee, Constance Flemming and Ebony Bowers, the proceeds benefit Palmetto Richland Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network.

Among the queens attending were Miss Lexington Yvannah Garcia, Princesses Selma Magni, Shayla Bowers and Kyle Michous, and Miss South Carolina Davia Bunch.

Next Thursday, April 25, is an apportunity to learn new skills and develop new interests. It will be the start if the Adventures in Learning Spring Session, sponsored by the Shepherd’s Center of Lexington. Lunchtime presentations include speakers like Patricia Moore-Pastides, Jerrod Glover, Chronicle Editor Jerry Bellune, and Lexington County Museum Director J.R. Fennell.

There are many classes offered for your enjoyment, such as Chair Yoga, Filling in the Blanks in the Bible, Apple iPhone Basics, Finding Your Roots, Knit and Crochet, Line Dancing, Adventurous Aging, and History and More.

Toni Danson reports she and Doug, along with Judy and Michael Bender, visited Washington, DC, recently to enjoy the cherry blossoms. She says it was the 5th most gorgeous blooming since the beginning. They also enjoyed tours of all the historical places in our nation’s capitol.
