Have some stuff you’d like to get rid of? Want to sell it somewhere you’ll have more buyers than in your driveway? St. James Lutheran Church on South Lake Drive is holding a Community Yard Sale this Saturday, March 2, from 7 am until 2 pm. It’s open to the entire community. Spaces cost only $5 for a 10x10 spot, plus $5 per table if you don’t bring your own. They’ll have a food truck there as well, so stop in for breakfast and some bargains. Contact the church for more information at 359-2122.

The season of Lent is almost upon us, marking the beginning of the Easter season in our local houses of worship. Ash Wednesday is on March 6. Before that is Shrove Tuesday, which is being celebrated this March 5 at Red Bank United Methodist with a pancake dinner hosted by the church Cub Scout Pack. They’ll have pancakes and all the usual fixings. Donations will be accepted at the door. The dinner will run from 6 pm until 8 in the church fellowship hall. Red Bank UMC is on South Lake Drive at the intersection with Old Barn-well Road. Call 359-4031 for more information.

Sunday, March 3, at Lexington Church of God the congregation will host the Lee University Symphonic Band in concert at 6:30 pm in the church sanctuary. The church is at 1331 Nazareth Road. Call (803) 957-6675 for more information.

Happy Birthday this week to Ashley Jordan, Reese Allen, Owen Kyzer, Paul McKeever, Ann Ball, Freddie Barr, Kendra Hucks, Kathleen Lloyd, Matthew Weathersby, John D. Sease, Rita Sox, Ken Drennon, Sharon Nobles, Kathy Lybrand, Tammy Baker, Mark Wilson, Brad Howell, and Amy Hudson.
