Overcast skies, chilly temperature and hints of rain didn’t stop the Shamrock Parade. The paraders drove, rode and marched down Lexington’s Main Street right on time Saturday.
The parade was hosted again by the Lexington County Blowfish collegiate baseball team and the Town of Lexington.
A large crowd ignored the weather and came out to watch the Lexington High Jr, Air Force ROTC lead the parade through downtown.
They were followed by Congressman Joe Wilson, Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall and Town Council. Brent Johnson of 93.1 The Lake served as grand marshal, and led County Fire Service trucks, first responders, military personnel the Lexington County Sheriff’s Bomb Truck and other law enforcement vehicles and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.
Connick School of Irish Dance students performed Irish dances and members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians carried green and orange of 2 Irish faiths.
Veteran TV personality Joe Pinner announced the parade entries as they passed Main and Church Streets.
Blowfish team mascot Blowie and emerald-clad leprechauns passed out candy and tickets to Blowfish games.
