Tommy Hood is organizing a 2nd tour of the former Gilbert High building 5:30 to 6:30 pm Friday, Oct. 22. Hood asks former GHS alumni, teachers and staff to tell others about the event.

If you attended the GHS event last summer, Hood would like for you to return again. Former GHS teachers are asked to come for group photos at 5 pm.

On the July 4 weekend hundreds of GHS alumni toured their school building and classrooms. It was an alumni homecoming, seeing classmates and friends. Many who could not attend have requested another time to tour their alma mater.

Hood is thankful Lexington 1 is making this event possible. The 2-story GHS building is to be torn down in 2022. Adjacent buildings will be renovated.

Lexington 1 board member Tim Oswald said the old GHS building would be extremely costly to repair and fails to meet the building code’s requirements.

LAST MONTH Hollow Creek Community Club members met for their “Coming Back Together” dinner. Because of covid their members had discontinued their monthly meetings for over a year. During their September meeting they agreed to continue meeting .

This week they will participate in packing toys and other items in shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Member Rebekah Tinman gave the October devotions.

Members who have birthdays this month are Betty Balder, Monroe Fulmer, Diane Jumper, Rebecca Koon, O’Neal Sessions, Ann Hodges and Sarah Evans. James and Ann Hodges and Brandon and Bryn Sarvis Rice celebrated anniversaries.

The members invite you to join them. The club is involved in many community projects. For information call Dale Swygert at 803-917-0195.
