Stimulate us with an income tax break

The whiz kids in Washington are arguing about how much of our money to give us back in more stimulus money.

Here’s an even better idea that will help all of us and uncomplicate our taxes for a year.

Instead of trillions more dollars our great grandchildren will have to pay back, let’s cut out the middle man and collect zero income taxes in 2021.

That’s right. Do away with the federal income tax for a full year. Our state lawmakers might even see the wisdom in this and charge no state income tax either. They could use biliions of dollars in reserves to keep governments going.

This audacious idea comes from Stephen Moore, a member of the White House economic recovery task force.

In 2020 the personal income tax was expected to raise $1.81 trillion and the corporate income tax $260 billion – a total of $2.07 trillion. For a little more than $2 trillion, Congress could suspend the personal and corporate income tax for a year.

Think about what a year without income-tax liabilities and collection would mean.

Moore projects roughly 150 million workers would no longer have income tax withheld from their paychecks, an enormous boost to their incomes.

The payroll tax funding Social Security and Medicare would still be collected.

About 30 million small businesses would no longer have to pay or collect income taxes for a year. They would have more money to hire workers.

Some 100,000 American corporations would see their tax rate fall from 21% to zero.

For 12 months we would have the world’s lowest corporate tax, boosting profits and stock values and attracting capital.

Trillions in stimulus requires tens of billions of dollars for government bureaucrats to pass out the money. Suspending the income tax would save as much as $11 billion a year.

An income tax suspension would benefit everyone and reward Americans for working.

What do you think of this?

For a year we would have the world’s lowest personal and business tax — zero.
