The Lexington County Toastmasters Club will present “5 Strategies for Success in Business & Life” at the Lexington Chamber of Commerce Lunch & Learn Wednesday, April 24. 5 speakers will share their success secrets. • The Small Business Administration has chosen Adam Huneau of Alodia’s Cucina Italina restaurant on West Main in Lexington as Small Business Person of the Year. He and other winners will be honored at an awards luncheon May 1 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
• The U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association honored Michelin North America and 6 other tire
| makers for their work in _ advancing occupational health and safety. Michelin, which operates 2 plants in Lexington, was honored with 4 awards.
Publix gives back
Publix employees will participate in the company’s non-profit volunteer program. Publix Serves Day volunteers will help at 180 local nonprofit organizations. This include painting, landscaping, packing and serving meals, stocking pantries and performing after school activities with youth. Publix is owned and operated by 200,000 employees, with 2018 sales of $36.1 billion.
Teacher elected
The Palmetto State Teachers Association elected Gilbert High teacher Frances M. Meetze to serve as treasurer of its board. The board includes 6 district directors and 5 officers who govern the association. Meetze teaches US history and government and economics at Gilbert High.
