Teachers earn new certification

Four teachers from B-L Primary School recently earned their Upper and Lower Elementary Montessori Certifications. The group was honored at the May 8 Board of Trustees meeting for their achievements, which took nearly two years to accomplish. Congratulations to Aimee Kirkland, Bridget Miles, Jennifer Richardson and Megan Schulte on adding these endorsements to their Early Childhood Education certificates.

Batesburg-Leesville Primary School is seeking new PTO officers. Positions that need to be filled are President, Vice President, Secretary and Fundraising Coordinator. If interested, be sure to come by and fill out an application.

The Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees recently named Gary Adams as the new Athletic Director of B-L High School and Matt Velasquez as the new Principal of B-L Elementary. Coach Adams will assume his new role in July after Gary Phillips retires following 53 years of dedicated service to the district. Mr. Velasquez will move into his new job on July 1, when current B-L Elementary School Principal Jaime Hembree transitions to the District Office as the new Director of Special Services.

New sidewalks are coming! On Monday, May 14, Town Council entered into a contract with CBD Inc. to start building new sidewalks around town. The project is set to begin in early August. Go to the town’s website to see if your street is on the docket for sidewalk repair.
