Thrillers worth reading

The Pelion library recommends “Confessions” by Kanae Minato for adult thriller reading. After calling off her engagement after a tragic revelation, Yko Moriguchi had nothing to live for except her only child, 4-year-old Manami. Narrated in alternating voices with twists you’ll never see coming, “Confessions” explores the limits of punishment, despair, and tragic love, culminating in a harrowing confrontation between teacher and student that will place the entire school in danger.

For young adult thriller the library recommends “Get Even (Don’t’ Get Mad, #1)” by Gretchen McNeil. 4 girls at an elite private school form “Don’t Get Mad,” a secret society that takes revenge on the school’s bullies. All works according to plan until their latest target ends up dead and all clues point their way.

To obtain either of these books call 803- 785-3272 or go online and reserve a copy at www.lexcolibrary.com. The staff at Pelion Library will call to set up a day and time for your pick up. Other suggestions are “A Walk Along the Beach” by Debbie Macomber and “One Day DIY Modern Farmhouse Furniture” by JP Strate.

The Pelion Panthers will play at Hanahan August 28 at 7:30 pm. Pelion varsity volleyball plays Brookland Cayce August 27 at 5:30 pm. Girls tennis plays White Knoll on August 27 at 4:30 pm.

Pelion Town Council meets August 20 with a work session at 5:30 pm and meeting at 6. Residents are urged to attend these meetings to hear what is happening.

Happy birthday to Angie Olawsky and Keith Poole.
