AROUND LEXINGTON COUNTY

Get ready for a lot of wonderful holiday events.

The Town of Lexington presents the annual Snowball Festival this weekend. The Christmas tree lighting is Nov. 30 at 8 pm at Lexington Square Park. Prior to this is a concert and carnival for family enjoyment.

Saturday will bring a Movie in the Park, 5-9 pm, at the Icehosue Amphitheater. Movies are “Twas the Night before Christmas” and “A Christmas Story.”

Then Sunday, December 2, Santa arrives in the Christmas parade at 3 pm down Main Street in Lexington.

Don’t forget the Lexington County Choral Society Christmas concert Friday and Saturday, 7:30 pm, at Saxe Gotha Presbyterian Church.

Lexington County Museum will hold its Christmas Open House December 9, 1-4 pm, at the museum on Fox Street, Lexington. This free event celebrates the Christmas traditions of the past, including hot apple cider, gingerbread and German stollen.

Constance Caractor Flemming will entertain with music in the John Fox House, where you may visit a kitchen of that time period. Museum Director J.R. Fennel will be on hand, along with docents, to give you the rich history of our county.

Abraham, the famous Arabian camel, visited the residents of Deepwood Estates last Friday. The 20-year-old camel belongs to the Clifford Fisher family of Lexington. He recently starred in a Koger Center production of Cleopatra.

Deepwood residents were thrilled to witness him drinking his Mountain Dew right out of the bottle and savoring bananas they fed him. It was a treat for the residents, who also enjoyed hot apple cider, pumpkin pie and cookies.

Toni Danser reports that she, her husband Doug, and friends Judy and Michael Bender recently completed a bucket list wish. They visited Italy and Greece and did some island hopping during a wonderful trip.

Our family holiday has been highlighted by two grandchildren becoming engaged.

Caroline Plowden will wed Joe Ellis, and Sam Stormer will take Maddy Smith as his bride! We are all thrilled!

Don’t forget the families in need of your help to have a happy holiday. They need toys for children, clothing and food. Mission Lexington would appreciate food items, other necessities and monetary gifts. Check with your churches and their projects to fulfill the needs of others. Make it a “giving Christmas.”

Happy birthday to Chuck Corley, Louisa Brunson, Bill Linder, Cicki Jogensen, Tom McCants, Alex Knight, Mason Mcinnis, Mary Hellman-Westberry, Tommy Faulk, Dion Fink, Judy Hook, Logan Schmitz, Jessie Gunter, Carter Harmon, Cathy Klimek, Brian Pack, Dakota Bays, Christopher Broome, Wendell Christine, Bill Juhl, Harmon Patrusick, Sandra Shealy, Meadow Wessinger, Bryce Whindham, Ralph Haggard, Kerri Brittingham, Holly Gemble, Nolan Rish, Shannon Wessinger, Corley Hightower, John Lovett, Doug Schreiber, Nancy Lipski, and Rachel Maxwell.
