Veterans work for veterans’ families

Posted

The American Legion Riders are veterans and families of veterans who are motorcycle enthusiasts with a desire to give back to their communities and fellow veterans and families.

They have 21 state chapters and are a family oriented organization formed to promote and support American Legion programs.

The riders are part of many projects including the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships to the children of those killed on active military service since 9/11 or rated by the VA as 50% or more disabled. 100% of donations go to provide scholarships.

They also ride to honor fallen military men and women and to protect the sanctity of their funerals from those who would dishonor their memory. For more information you can see a video at https://www.youtube. atch?v-xhoQOWD0O7Y

Pelion varsiTY football will scrimmage at Mid Carolina on Aug. 6 at 9 am and on Aug. 10 at Orangeburg Prep at 6 pm. Varsity volleyball will play North on Aug. 12 at 5:30 pm.

Convent Baptist Church will sponsor a Back to School Bash from 11 am to 2 pm August 8. Donations of school supplies are needed.

The Pelion Library is currently on the same schedule as in past months.
