A tragedy in North Carolina has hit close to home.
Frank Mungo, 86, and Charlene Mungo, 83, of West Columbia were two of dozens of people who died as a result of floodwaters from Hurricane Fred that swept through the mountains of North Carolina on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
Shannon Ledford posted on Facebook that the Mungos were regulars at Laurel Bank Campground in Haywood County in Western North Carolina.
She said “These two wonderful people were our neighbors. Mike (husband) and I loved them dearly and enjoyed our conversations with them. Charlene adored Mike and Frank was always in amazement at Mike’s fishing skills. I enjoyed the recipes Charlene gave me and our porch conversations.”
Beverly Mungo, a niece, posted funeral information about the Mungos on Facebook.
