Whetzel’s makes US 1 beautiful

The West Columbia Beautification Foundation honored Whetzel’s Automotive, 2017 Augusta Road, West Columbia, at the August virtual meeting Thursday.

Whetzel’s added beautiful landscaping and flowers to the US 1 corridor.

West Columbia Beautification Foundation Vice-Chairman Bill Mooneyhan said, “Congratulations to a well-deserved business who has supported the foundation for years and continued with the beautification of their long-standing business.”

3 new members have been added to the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber and Visitors Center Board of Directors:

• Vince Rhodes, board chair of State Credit Union. Vince has been active in the business community many years including as State Credit Union chairman.

• Kim Jamieson, marketing and air service development director of Columbia Metropolitan Airport. Kim has been recognized for her community involvement.

• Eddie Coakley, senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. He and Trinity Baptist have been recognized for local missions for government and businesses.

A 3-vehicle collision on Industrial Boulevard had Wildlife Road closed for about 45 minutes Saturday. Lexington Police set up a detour around Zenker Road and Longs Pond Road. The collision was caused by a driver failing to yield the right of way.

WEST COLUMBIA’S Artisan Market is open every Saturday 9 am – 1 pm, at the Interactive Art Park, 425 Meeting Street, under the pavilion. The market includes vendors selling original art, crafts, foods and produce. Shop with the vendors and interact with the unique sculptures throughout the park, then head to State and Meeting Streets for shopping and dining.
