Wilton Road has reopened more than a month ahead of schedule.
It was opened to traffic last week.
Wilton Road in Springdale was washed out in the 2015 flood. It had been road-blocked since.
“At long last it’s finally open again! Thanks to everyone that worked so hard to get this project done — it took all of us pulling together and now it’s finished,” Rep. Micah Caskey, who lives near the road, posted on social media.
West Columbia City Councilman Mike Green did a dance on the newly opened road.
Since it was damaged, disputes over ownership of property and the permission to work on the site beside the road have delayed restoration. Those issues were resolved.
In February, SC Department of Transportation Engineer Jeremy Yuhas said the completion date on the Wilton Road repair was April 30.
