Women work more, sleep less

AROUND TOWN

All of us knew this. The latest research only confirms it.

Women do work more, care for children more and end up with less sleep than ever before.

They also do more house work and have less time to relax and be with friends.

The American Time Use Survey by the US Labor Department suggests that despite their increasing work, women are primary caregivers and home managers.

Employed women work 7 hours and 20 minutes a day, the most time since 2003. Men spent slightly less than 8 hours a day at work. The gap between women and men fell to its smallest on record. sonal finance research, South Carolina ranks 46th in the nation in independence. It based this finding on prosperity or lack of it, dependence on government and private sector job opportunities. They ranked us 18th in private sector jobs, a good sign, but 42nd in government dependence including government jobs. They also ranked us 40th as one of the individually poorest states in the US.

That may come as a surprise to us in Lexington County. But we must remember we are among the most affluent in the state.
