Those worrying about making rent this month can breath a small sigh of relief.

A SC Supreme Court ruling has suspended evictions statewide.

Chief Justice Donald Beatty ordered all evictions halted Mar. 17.

Eviction court proceedings will be postponed til May 1.

The ruling allows for exceptions in cases of emergency actions involving threats to property or health, the Post and Courier reported.

The order comes just in time for 2 Lexington County families who on last week had been evicted from their homes.

The evicted included a father of 4 and his pregnant wife, and a single mother, according to the Post and Courier.

Those evictions orders have been postponed and families allowed to stay.
